I’m old enough to remember the Reagan White House, when Nancy Reagan tried “going Romanov” and consulting an astrologer to make informed decisions in order to protect her husband. History has proven that when First Ladies start giving advice and orders to staff other than their own, the results tend to be mixed at best.

     Everybody is well aware of Trump’s habit of watching cable news to a point that is almost an obsession. But if what POLITICO is reporting is true, Hair Furor isn’t the only one who can’t put down the remote controller, Melania has picked up his addiction;

Like President Donald Trump, these people said, Melania Trump is an avid consumer of cable news, and often tracks the news of the day and will alert her husband to stories she thinks make him look bad.

She has raised concerns that some on his communications and press team aren’t doing enough to defend him, according aides and sources close to the president. She’s been especially troubled by background quotes in which West Wing aides criticize the president, and she’s called the president to discuss it.

     This is great. Like The Imbecile in Chief isn’t paranoid enough about his news coverage already, now he’s got the wifey in his ear, whining about the abysmal press he’s getting. The way this is sounding, it’s probably a good thing that poor Barron has a nanny and a floor of his own, or mommy wold be carping on him about how shitty daddy looks on television these days.

     This is not a good sign, not for us, and not for the world in general. With a termagent ex wife in my history, I well know that in a situation like that a man will say or do anything to “Please Lord, just make it stop!”. And if you think it’s a bad sign for us, it’s possibly a kiss of death for someone not so near and dear to all of our hearts;

In recent weeks, her concerns have centered on White House press secretary Sean Spicer, whose role as an on-camera briefer is expected to change after Trump returns from his overseas trip.

“She was really concerned that Spicer was not doing a good job, that they were not proactive in defending the president,” said one outside adviser who speaks to the president regularly. ”The leaks bother her. She believes a lot of people are more interested in serving themselves than him.”

     And now good old Spice Racked has got her in his ear, feeling the old hairy eyeball on him constantly for the next 8 days. Nothing like immediate, personal access to the old mans ear for 8 days to drive your points home. With her fashion model background, I don’t even wanna think about her whispered critique of the finer points of women’s fashion in Saudi Arabia.

     But there was one portion of the above quote that is even more important. Trump is the one with the street rep of sowing discord and dissent among his subordinates, keep them at each others throats to keep them away from his. But, ”The leaks bother her. She believes a lot of people are more interested in serving themselves than him.” Really? Reports are already widespread that morale and job satisfaction in the White House is like being in a Russian gulag. Bad news day after day, and an unpredictable boss. If Melania starts demanding that they all be hitched up to polygraphs to discover who’s dishing dirt on her money spigot, she better get ready to start doing half of the staff work herself, because the west wing is going to be a ghost town.

     If the Politico report is accurate, and it seems well sourced, then this is a Melania Trump we haven’t seen before, and with perfectly good reason. She’s in New York with Barron, out of sight. Her contacts with her husband have mostly been weekends at Mar-A-Lago, and phone conversations during the week. But the current plan is for her to move down to Washington over the summer with Barron. If she actually goes “full Nancy” once she gets there, keep an eye on the exit doors in the west wing. If we start to see a mass exodus that may be a good indicator that the atmosphere in the White House has gotten too toxic for human tolerance.
